AMC's "Better Call Saul" has been confirmed to be renewed for a third season next year. Although the people behind its development have remained very quiet on the concrete details of its production, several details and rumors have surfaced about "Better Call Saul's" upcoming season.

One compelling rumor is that "Breaking Bad" lead actor Bryan Cranston, who portrayed Walter White in the original series that "Better Call Saul" is a prequel of, may be directing an episode of the upcoming third season. The spark of the rumor originated from an interview of co-creator Vince Gilligan with Digital Trends last November.

"We would love to have Bryan direct, and I think he'd love to direct one. He wants to — it's just a matter of fitting it into his schedule," Gilligan told Digital Trends.

Gilligan even confirmed that Cranston has been visiting the "Better Call Saul" set, but he didn't divulge if Cranston had a specific purpose in the production of the show that could have required his visit.

According to Gilligan: "He visited the set recently, which was wonderful. I was directing the first couple of episodes of season three, and within the last few weeks, Bryan came to Albuquerque and visited the set because he was in town to do press for his autobiography [A Life in Parts] — which, by the way, is a great book."

Aside from the possibility that the award-winning "Breaking Bad" lead actor might serve as a director for one of the episodes of "Better Call Saul" season 3, there are also reports suggesting that Cranston may be reprising his previous role as Walter White and cross over for an appearance in the prequel.

Whether the renowned actor will be serving as a director or a guest star, Cranston's participation in the "Breaking Bad" prequel is sure to make plenty of fans happy. Aside from his well-decorated acting career, he also has had some experience behind the camera as a director of several episodes of "Breaking Bad," "Malcolm in the Middle," "The Office," and "Modern Family."

"Better Call Saul" season 3 is expected to premiere sometime in 2017 on AMC.
