'Blindspot' season 2 episode 12 spoilers: Roman goes undercover in 'Devil Never Even Lived'
All roads lead to Roman (Luke Mitchell) in the next episode of "Blindspot" season 2. But with his memories wiped out and his incapacity to feel emotions exposed, will Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) and his team eventually find it in themselves to trust him out in the field?
In the previous episode of NBC's crime-mystery series, Patterson (Ashley Johnson) finally cracked the mystery behind the leopard tattoo that was supposed to have been on the right side of Jane's neck. It gave them a social security number which, in turn, led them to a woman named Kat Jarrett (Amber Skye Noyes), a member of a biker gang that used to make deals with Roman, as shown in some stills taken from a CCTV footage.
In the next episode, titled "Devil Never Even Lived," the team will have to consider whether or not to send Roman on an undercover mission to find out how this dangerous biker gang, known as the Viper Kings, is associated with Sandstorm. This opportunity to get valuable intel on what Phase 2 could possibly entail opens in the wake of criminal profiler Dr. Sun's (Li Jun Li) warning that triggering Roman's memories will only serve to awaken his psychopathic tendencies.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, series creator Martin Gero described Roman as "one of the most wretched characters on the show," but the love he has for his sister Jane (Jaimie Alexander) sustains some amount of humanity in him. However, while Jane was able to move on from her past fairly well, and while she has proven herself on many occasions to be an innately good person, Roman's case may be different. Will he end up turning against Weller and his team, or will Jane's persistent faith and trust trigger a more human side to him that finally gets him to align with his sister and the FBI?
"Blindspot" season 2 episode 12 airs on Wednesday, Jan. 18, at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
