'Blindspot' season 2 episode 8 spoilers: Kurt goes MIA as Weitz returns to cause more trouble for the FBI

Contrary to what was reported last week, "Blindspot" resumed its regular schedule this week in a new episode that may have just dropped a hint as to who could be Sandstorm's mole within the FBI.

However, fans of the NBC's hit crime series may have to wait a while to find out who he or she could be as next week's episode 8 titled "Do Not Slack, the Featherweight Wins" will instead feature the disappearance of FBI New York's assistant director, Kurt Weller (Sullivan Stapleton).

What's a team without its leader? Kurt's crew will soon find out when he gets abducted by a shady character named Pavel (Dave Pavinski). It is unclear what his reasons are for taking an FBI agent captive or what he plans to do with Kurt. Could he be acting out of a personal vendetta or could he simply be carrying out a paid hit?

"Your life's over," Pavel taunts his prisoner in the official episode preview. 

Luckily, Kurt's team has grown to be a close-knit family who would exhaust every available option there is to get him back, even going so far as to interrogate two criminals who may hold the answer to Kurt's whereabouts. Another possibility is that Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander) may pose as bait and gets nabbed as well since the episode synopsis says that she also goes missing.

Newcomer and NSA agent Nas Kamal (Archie Panjabi) leads the team in a rescue mission to get Kurt back, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew Weitz (Aaron Abrams) comes back to pick some bones with the FBI. He never did close the case he was putting together against former FBI assistant director Bethany Mayfair (Marianne Jean-Baptiste) regarding the disappearance and presumed death of CIA deputy director Tom Carter (Michael Gaston) in season 1. What could Weitz possibly want from Kurt's team now that Mayfair is dead? And would Jane consider asking him for help to find Kurt?

Trieste Kelly Dunn will also be guest starring as Allison Knight, which may pose a future complication now that Kurt is sleeping with Nas while Allison is carrying his baby.

"Blindspot" season 2 episode 8 airs on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 8 p.m. EDT on NBC.
