"BoJack Horseman" will address the changing political climate in America when season 4 premieres next year.

Since this year's election, "BoJack Horseman" showrunners have been announcing how they will handle the political climate in U.S. as part of the next season. According to series creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg, most of the episodes in season 4 were already written before the Donald Trump won the election, but a potential fifth season might center on more real-world issues seen through the titular character's perspective.

"I think 'BoJack' is definitely very much about kind of the burdens of being comfortable," Bob-Waksberg told Indiewire. "I don't know if those are the kinds of stories we're going to be as interested in moving forward. I know I'm certainly less interested in exploring the small hypocrisies of rich liberals.I'm not in the mood to poke fun at those kinds of people when there are real, real problems that we need to talk about," he added.

The showrunner went on to say that the season they were writing was already "far enough along that it didn't really change anything" they were doing. He further stressed that season 5 could be the best opportunity to discuss more relevant issues in order to keep up with current events. Additionally, Bob-Waksberg assured fans that "a little sharpening of that perspective" will be seen in the episodes to come.

Bob-Waksberg hasn't revealed whether or not Netflix plans to renew the hit animated program for a fifth run, but the streaming platform has repeatedly said that "BoJack Horseman" is one of its most popular shows. To date, getting that information is impossible because Netflix never releases any actual rating details on its shows.

"BoJack Horseman" will return for a fourth season next year, but Netflix has yet to announce an official premiere date for the animated series.
