'Bones' season 12 episode 7 spoilers: Booth discovers his connection with a suspect, fears for his own safety; Brennan's father returns

A new case puts Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) on high alert on the upcoming episode of Fox's procedural drama "Bones" season 12.

Titled "The Final Chapter: The Scare in the Score," next week's episode will see Booth discover his past connection to a suspect in the team's new case. According to the official synopsis, a series of dead bodies start to appear around D.C. What seems to be a normal day at work for Booth takes a surprising turn when he learns that the corpses are connected to his former Army unit. The FBI Agent dives into his past in an attempt to find the killer before the killer finds him.

Elsewhere, Brennan's father Max (Ryan O'Neal) hides a serious medical procedure from her. Max's effort to keep his surgery a secret leaves Brennan to grapple with her father's mortality and trust. Aside from working on the latest case, she must also deal with the idea that her family is in danger.

Cartermatt reports that whatever happens within episode 7, it could set up some major events as the story moves forward. Since the episode that comes after it is titled "The Grief in the Girl," there is a possibility that something bad will happen to Max. Another thing worth noting is the idea that the next episode serves as this season's midway point. This is the program's last year, which means fans should expect the plot to get more emotional as the finale nears.

Fox recently released a new promo for the hour, and it highlights Booth's past. The clip shows why his life is in jeopardy, with Brennan telling someone that it might be an act of revenge against Booth. It remains to be seen whether Booth is really in danger or if it was all a misdirection.

The 12th and final season of "Bones" airs every Tuesday night at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
