"Bones" may be heading to the big screen after its season 12 finale.

The Fox procedural is ending its run after 12 seasons, and many fans are still devasted about the show's impending conclusion. However, creator and executive producer Hart Hanson recently spoke about a possible "Bones" film in the near future. In this era of revivals and reunions, Hanson admitted he would consider bringing the show to the movie theaters.

"One of the great things about 'Bones' and it stems from our two leads is they decided really early in the process that they were gong to like each other and get along and work together really well," he told Variety. "We've all heard the story of leads on shows drifting apart. Our show was never like that," the EP added.

The show's swan song season comes after "Bones" has jumped around Fox's viewing schedule. At some point during its tenure, the procedural even aired every weeknight. On Wednesday's Television Critics Association's press tour panel, actress Emily Deschanel shared how the series managed to survive each year by the skin of its teeth. "We've had several season finales that could have been our last, and at times we didn't know if it would be our last," Deschanel said.

While "The Final Chapter " serves as the end of the show, Hanson said it's not necessarily the conclusion he envisioned. He gives the credits to executive producers Jonathan Collier and Michael Peterson, adding that he "fully love[s]" how the duo planned the show's finale.

With Fox having two revivals set to air this year, Hanson said he's open to making a reboot of the program, although lead stars Deschanel and David Boreanaz seem to have a different opinion on reprising their roles. "I would say I would like some time before I consider that," Deschanel continued. Boreanaz, on the other hand, said everything is possible in life, but he likes "to go forward" and pursue other projects.

The 12th and final season of "Bones" airs every Tuesday night at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
