'Borderlands 3' release date, news and updates: New galaxy map to be explored; coming in 2018?

Fans of the "Borderland" video game franchise are all waiting for its third installment. However, developer Gearbox Software and publisher 2K Games are still keeping quiet about "Borderlands 3."

According to rumors, however, the third sequel of the game is expected to hit store shelves sometime in October 2018. Looking at the length of development, fans can expect to get an improved and better "Borderlands" title.

As fans may recall from the last version, the game concluded with a new galaxy located in a different solar system. "Borderlands 2" didn't reveal much about it though, which means that it may be explored more in the upcoming "Borderlands 3" instead.

Considering the fact that Gearbox will be creating a whole new world, it's going to take a lot of time and effort, thus the possible reason for the game's delay.

Fans can expect though that the video game company will be making some improvements in the multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) first-person shooter titles by incorporating stunning game visuals. After all, this factor plays a very big part in making the game better.

Reports said that Gearbox tried to make the game more fun by adding in a new character, Ernest, but it didn't do much. That is why they are now putting their focus on what really matters. Moreover, Game Rant detailed that "Borderlands 3" may not be the final title yet. At the PAX East panel last year, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford said that they are not sure yet what to call the game.

It's also noted that art director Scott Kester from "Borderlands 2" will make a comeback for the next title of the series, which means that the game will be maintaining its art style and be in line with the franchise's signature comic-book look. Meanwhile, the game will be written by Gearbox chief creative champion Mikey Neumann, who was also the one who penned the script for the first "Borderlands."
