Still looking to load up on assets to help their 2016-17 season, the Boston Celtics are likely to be the best destination for Russell Westbrook.

Still currently with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Westbrook's future has been in the air following Kevin Durant's departure this year.

With the former MVP going to the Golden State Warriors, many believe that Westbrook will bolt the Thunder as well, especially as his contract is expiring at the end of the coming season.

Looking at it from the point of view of the Thunder management, they are likely to deal Westbrook now than let him walk away next year. Dealing him now will get them some pieces left as they try to rebuild into the West power they once were.

And as for the Celtics, rumors have grown strong that he is very likely to head to the East and Boston is the loudest city linked to him.

According to Mass Live, the Celtics have the capacity to give up a lot of assets for Westbrook, without jeopardizing the potential core of the team.

If they land Westbrook, the Celtics can still have Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder and Al Horford which makes the team a definitive nightmare in the East.

Outside of Westbrook, there have also been talks that Blake Griffin could leave the Los Angeles Clippers to join the Celtics in a three-team trade.

NESN revealed that there are talks that Griffin may land in Boston with Crowder moving to the Sacramento Kings and Rudy Gay to the Clippers. This is another likely case of the Celtics desperately trying to have a complete roster to compete against the top teams in the league.

However, the best bet is to have Westbrook on board, and to work out a deal that will give the Thunder some future assets that will allow them to let go of their remaining franchise player.
