"Fury" actor Brad Pitt has released another statement following his much-talked-about recent split from wife of two years, "Maleficent" actress Angelina Jolie.

Pitt has been conspicuously silent about the dissolution of his marriage to Jolie, with whom he has six children, in the week since it was revealed that the actress had filed for divorce. The actor did not even comment on the news that the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services and the FBI are investigating him for allegedly verbally and physically abusing one of his children during a flight from France to California.

The "Inglourious Basterds" actor broke his silence this week with an announcement that he will not be at the red carpet screening of Terrence Malick's documentary "Voyage of Time" on Wednesday, Sept. 28. Pitt narrated the IMAX documentary about the origins of life on Earth.

"Terrence's 'Voyage of Time' is an incredibly beautiful and unique experiential IMAX film for children and families chronicling the birth of time," the actor said in a statement to Access Hollywood. "I'm very grateful to be part of such a fascinating and educational project, but I'm currently focused on my family situation and don't want to distract attention away from this extraordinary film, which I encourage everyone to see," he added.

Pitt and Malick also collaborated on the 2011 film "Tree of Life."

Last week, it was revealed that Jolie had filed for divorce from Pitt, her partner for the last 12 years. According to the star's lawyer, her decision was made for "the health of the family."

Meanwhile, a source told People that Pitt did not hit his son Maddox during an altercation aboard a flight earlier this year. The incident allegedly occurred when the actor had an argument with Jolie, and Maddox, their 15-year-old son, tried to intervene.

According to the outlet, the incident was reported to the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services anonymously. The FBI has also reportedly been involved due to the supposed incident having occurred mid-flight.
