Charlotte Hornets trade rumors: Hornets not too busy this summer
It's been a relatively silent summer for the Charlotte Hornets as they hope to continue rebuilding the team to remain relevant in the Eastern Conference.
After finishing sixth in the regular season last year, the Hornets reached the first round of the playoffs where they were eventually eliminated by the Miami Heat.
Despite this, the positivity in the city remains intact, and they are hoping that the Hornets remain in the playoff picture in the coming season.
Unfortunately, they have not done so much so far this season, and the website Hoops Rumors reported that one big move that they did in terms of new player acquisitions is signing Roy Hibbert.
After Al Jefferson moved to the Indiana Pacers with a three-year deal, the Hornets were desperate to find a big man who can try to emulate what Jefferson offered.
It appeared they found the answer in Hibbert after agreeing to a one-year, $5 million deal. However, Hibbert is not known as a scorer, and the quality of his performances have dropped in recent years.
The departure of Jeremy Lin also was a big hit for the Hornets who lost their spark from the bench.
Now, they must rely on Nicolas Batum, with the Hornets recently giving him a five-year, $120 million contract.
Batum is a reliable player, and he has reached career highs in scoring and assists in his first year with the Hornets.
The Frenchman averaged 14.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.8 assists with Charlotte, and he should be the team's focal point along with Kemba Walker if the Hornets are to go anywhere this coming season.
There are no new targets at the moment, and it seems that there should be no more significant signings for Charlotte as the summer goes on.
This may be good for them as they concentrate on improving the team's core and chemistry to contend with other teams in the East.
