"Chicago" franchise fans have more to look forward to as NBC has released more details for the upcoming crossover episode of "Chicago Fire" and Chicago P.D." set to air early next year.

Earlier this month, "Chicago Fire" co-creator Derek Haas revealed that Severide (Taylor Kinney) will be the focus of the upcoming crossover. Based on the sneak peeks that have been revealed, the Firehouse 51 lieutenant will be at the center of a deadly car crash.

The two-hour crossover event starts with "Chicago Fire" with the episode titled "Some Make It, Some Don't." Severide finds himself reverting to his old habits when his efforts to help Anna's (Charlotte Sullivan) bone marrow procedure don't go as planned.

In a promo for the upcoming episode, the firefighters are called into the scene of a car crash and are shocked to find out that Severide's Mustang was involved in the accident. To make things worse, the driver is nowhere to be found. Herman (David Eigenberg) tries to question the bystanders but no one has seen Severide.

Severide's troubles continue in the second hour of the crossover with the "Chicago P.D." episode titled "Don't Bury This Case." According to the synopsis, "Severide is brought into the District for questioning after his car is found to have caused a deadly crash."

In the footage for the upcoming episode, Severide has no recollection of what happened as he is questioned by Voight (Jason Beghe) and Lindsay (Sophia Bush). They inform the firefighter that a mother and daughter were hit by his car. When the little girl dies from her injuries, Severide is then charged with vehicular homicide. However, Severide is adamant that he is not responsible for the crash.

As the Intelligence Unit's investigation begins, they discover that a group of car-jackers may be the key to proving Severide's innocence.

According to Haas, Kinney delivers his best performances in these crossover episodes. His appearance in "Chicago P.D." may also cause some tension between Lindsay and Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer).
