A traumatic multi-vehicle accident during a Blizzard leads to an influx of patients on the upcoming episode of "Chicago Med" season 2.

Titled "Cold Front," this week's episode will see the Chicago Med staff make difficult decisions. According to the official synopsis, the nurses and doctors prepare for an influx of trauma patients when a pre-dawn pileup suddenly happens. With the entire hospital in full scramble mode, Dr. Rhodes (Colin Donnell) and Dr. Latham (guest star Ato Essandoh) must make difficult decisions as they handle cases based on the severity of patients' injuries.

Meanwhile, they are faced with a bigger challenge when the supplies become limited due to the storm and the emergencies. As a result, Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson), Dr. Manning (Torrey DeVitto), and Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) are forced to deal with an impossible decision. Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt) tends to an agitated patient who makes a scene in the waiting room, while Dr. Choi (Brian Tee) handles a severely burned patient who makes one last request from him.

NBC released a new promo for the episode, and it shows the aftermath of the accident. The clip reveals that at least a dozen vehicles are involved in the pileup, and 30 individuals were injured. At some point in the teaser, Dr. Choi can be seen rescuing one of the victims stuck inside a vehicle.

According to reports, the hour will also see familiar faces from another "Chicago" franchise. Firehouse 51 responders from "Chicago Fire" are expected to be on the scene to help rescue the victims. Firefighters Casey (Jesse Spencer), Severide (Taylor Kinney), Boden (Eamonn Walker), and Herrmann (David Eigenberg) are all set to appear in the episode, along with paramedic Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer).

The second season of "Chicago Med" airs every Thursday night at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
