Burgess (Marina Squerciati) finally got promoted, but a new supervisor will stir up some drama and make her transition a bit more difficult.

In the fall finale of "Chicago P.D.," Burgess' dreams to join the department's elite Intelligence Unit finally came true when Voight (Jason Beghe) offered her a position on the team. The former patrol officer happily accepted the offer, but when the series returns next year, it seems that her her life in the force will get a little more complicated.

Actress Sophia Bush, who plays Burgess' good friend, Erin Lindsay, recently caught up with TV Guide, and she revealed juicy teasers on what's next for Squerciati's character. "She will have to start at the bottom," Bush said. "She's being supervised by somebody who will certainly be able to make sure she's learning how to be a part of our unit in the right way," the actress went on to say.

The big question right now is: Who's mentoring Burgess? There are speculations that the role might be filled in by Officer Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger). Burgess and Ruzek go way back, and at some point, they were even engaged. Although that could create more drama in Burgess' life, it could also be a reason for the ex-lovers to reconcile and give their failed relationship another try. Bush could also be Burgess' supervisor since she's the only woman in the team.

If one thing's for sure, Burgess will definitely step up and prove that she is the right person for the job. As previously reported, she will fill in Antonio Dawson's (Jon Seda) spot after he decided to leave Intelligence and take the job at the District Attorney's Office as lead investigator. In the upcoming "Chicago" series titled "Chicago Justice," Antonio will be working for Assistant District Attorney Philip Stone (Philip Winchester).

The fourth season of "Chicago P.D." returns on Wednesday, Jan. 4, at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
