Chris Brown Shooting News: Singer Uninjured During Shooting in California
Chris Brown was performing onstage at the Fiesta nightclub, which is situated on Monterey Highway in San Jose, California, when shots rang out early on Sunday morning. The singer was then quickly surrounded by his security detail and escorted out of the premises. It was later learnt that five people were injured in the shooting.
Brown, who was on stage at 1.20 a.m., noticed that a fight had started. He then stopped singing to tell the crowd that some people were "getting down." Then gunshots rang out.
As several people recorded videos of the scene on their mobile devices, the singer was escorted off the stage by security while others screamed and ducked for cover.
The San Jose Police Department, which responded shortly thereafter, found four victims with gunshot wounds at the scene. One more walked into a nearby hospital.
Fiesta, which is just across from the West Wind Capitol Drive-In, usually plays host to live performances of Mexican "banda" music and sometimes features R&B and hip-hop artists. This time around, the modest venue ended up becoming the site of a party featuring Grammy Award winning Brown when the RockBar Theater declined to host it.
RockBar, which is located on Saratoga Avenue in San Jose, was originally chosen as the site for the V.I.P. birthday party. Tickets to the event were priced between $50 and went up to $2,500. However, after the police department informed RockBar's management that the event could lead to violence and cited the shooting of Suge Knight and two others in a previous appearance made by Brown, the club pulled out of the event.
This led the organizers of the event to look for another venue, with Fiesta eventually being chosen.
Around 700 people turned up at the party at the Fiesta, which is designed to hold up to 890 people, according to the San Jose Fire Department.
