'Civilization 6' patch update news and details: new mode, maps and fixes added
2K's strategy game, "Civilization 6," receives its Fall 2016 update through Steam and aside from addressing support for Logitech ARX and DirectX 12 for Nvidia Maxwell and later includes AMD Cards, the update also came with new maps, scenarios, and many other fixes.
The new scenario is titled "Cavalry and Cannonades," which sees reduced unit maintenance costs and no strategic resource requirement for units. The main goal is to possess the most number of territories, in 50 limited gameplay turns.
There are also two new maps called "Four-Leaf Clover" and "Six-armed Snowflake" that were both "designed to encourage more conflict by forcing players to move toward the center." Both are also playable online and offline.
Aside from these major content additions, the patch update also issues several bug fixes, user interface updates, balance changes, and more. This includes a fix in the game's constant notification update and achievements that are unlocking too frequently. Visual cues are also added when barbarian scouts are nearing a player's territory.
As for actual downloadable content (DLC) expansions for "Civilization 6," 2K Games is rather silent about the matter as of this moment.
Many fans, however, are requesting for new "civs" or civilizations to be added, most specifically, players are clamoring to see a Southeast Asian civilization in the game, also including Native American civilizations.
As of this moment, "Civilization 6" have 19 kingdoms to choose from — including Greece, Rome, England, Spain, Russia, China, Egypt, and Brazil, among others. Characters, even villains, and the game's items are based on historical figures and customs.
The release of "Civilization 6" was met with favorable reviews, and even became the fastest-selling game so far in the series, shipping one million units during the first two weeks of release.
It also won Best PC Game and Best Strategy Game in the Game Critics Awards 2016. The game is only playable on PC.
