'Clash of Clans' update: Supercell cancels support on iOS 7 devices; offers discounts on Earthquake spell
Supercell is no longer supporting select older devices for "Clash of Clans." In a new blog post, the developer said that they are pulling the plug on a few iOS devices "due to technical reasons beyond our control."
Apple mobiles that run lower than iOS 7 will no longer be able to support the game so fans would want to keep their handsets up to date in order to continue playing "Clash of Clans."
Unfortunately for those who use iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3rd and 4th generation and the original iPad to play, updating to a newer version of the software is not an option.
Those who have newer models of the said devices can update their software. These devices include the iPhone 4 and 4S, the iPhone 5, the first iPad mini, the current iPad Touch and all iPads.
Meanwhile, "Clash of Clans" players would want to take advantage of an ongoing promotion by Supercell. The studio is offering discounts on the Earthquake Spell, which means it will cost less to destroy walls and buildings.
In other news, more than 1 million Supercell forum accounts were revealed to have been breached by third-party hackers. It was discovered the hack was initially executed September last year, but Supercell has assured it has been fixed.
"We're currently looking into report that a vulnerability allowed third party hackers to gain illegal access to some forum user information, including a number of emails and encrypted passwords," Supercell said in an official statement.
"We take any such breaches very seriously and we follow very strict policies when it comes to security. Please note that this breach only affects our Forum service. Game accounts have not been affected," the studio, who is not just known for "Clash of Clans" but other hit games like "Hay Day," "Clash Royale" and "Boom Beach," went on to say.
