'Conan Exiles' PC and Xbox Early Access release date, news details: Early Access opens by 2017 for PC, Xbox and Steam

Funcom's pre-civilization survival game does not have a fixed release date yet, but PC and Xbox One gamers will get a good glimpse of the game through an Early Access preview that would be released on Jan. 31, 2017 for PC, while the Xbox One Early Access will be sometime in the spring of the same year.

In addition, Early Access will also be available on Steam, which is expected to be released slightly ahead of its Xbox One Early Access program. PlayStation 4 (PS4) owners cannot enjoy the Early Access preview as Sony doesn't support early access of any kind.

Fans were expecting for an Early Access preview by Sept. 2016, but was met with disappointment when the game developer confirmed that it will be delayed until 2017 to make "a better game."

On Tuesday, however, Nov. 22, game director Joel Bylos announced that "The open-world survival genre is ripe for Conan's conquest," adding that "If there ever was a world that can truly test your strength and skill, it is the brutal and savage world of Conan the Barbarian. Conan Exiles is not just an empty sandbox, it is a world rich in history where you must discover the secrets of ancient civilizations as you struggle to build your own."

"Conan Exiles" revolves around an exiled playable character who has to chart his own path in an unfamiliar wasteland and defend himself in order to survive. So players have to make their own weapons, clothing, and hunt for food. They also need to fight off antagonistic tribe members.

Funcom, however, added new interactions such as the ability to capture and enslave other characters, and interacting with a god who may come for aid during combat.

The game is primarily a multiplayer one, but it can also be played by a single player. Although no release date is set yet, the developers plan to let the Early Access program run for at least 12 months. This means that "Conan Exiles" will be officially released by the end of 2017, or early 2018.
