'Cossacks 3' Real-Time Strategy Game Coming Out with Cutting-Edge Graphics, New Story

The popular "Cossacks" real-time strategy game is due for a remake as "Cossacks 3" and is set for release either in November or December of this year.

This should be welcome news for many gamers who have been impressed by the original game and its sequels, the last of which was released in 2005.

The news about "Cossacks 3" came from Evgeniy Grigorovich, the current real-time strategy project head at GSC Game World. He explained that the upcoming game would take gamers back to the gameplay of the original game "Cossacks: European Wars," which was first released in 2001. Additionally, it would also have cutting-edge graphics and a new story.

The upcoming game, which has the working title "Cossacks 3," will have improved physics that provides realistic trajectories for ordnance ranging from bullets to cannonballs.

It will also feature a total of 12 playable nations and single-player campaigns as well. The number of nations is set to increase to 20 when an update is launched soon after the game's release.

There will be five campaigns with roots in history. Players will get to choose between using the single-player or multiplayer mode in the game.

In the multiplayer mode, Grigorovich said up to seven players can play one map at a time. They can either split into teams or play individually. If they want, they can even face off against six AI-controlled opponents or a team consisting of both humans and AI.

Mod support will also be included when the game launches. Grigorovich said gamers with the requisite skills will be able to literally rebuild the game or create new mods.

"Cossacks: European Wars" is a real-time strategy game based on historical events. It focuses on gathering resources and building prior to heading off to war with armies numbering in their thousands.

"Cossacks 3" is going to allow players to fight battles with 10,000 units at their command. The battles take place during the 17th and 18th century.

The game is due to arrive on the PC, Mac, and Linux.
