'Criminal Minds' Season 12 news, spoilers: New baddie of the year named
The stakes have never been higher in "Criminal Minds" season 12 as 13 dangerous prisoners are now on the loose after the massive prison break in the previous season.
According to executive producer Erica Messer, majority of these prisoners will eventually be put back behind bars, but one of the criminals at large deemed the most dangerous will give a lot of headaches to the team.
"There are still five out there when we come into the premiere. One of them is a guy Peter Lewis plays named Mr. Scratch," Messer teased about "Criminal Minds" season 12 during a chat with Entertainment Weekly.
"He is our baddie for the year. We will stretch him out and tell his creepy tales," she continued, hinting that the team will play a hazardous game of cat and mouse with the fugitive.
According to Cinema Blend, when "Criminal Minds" season 12 begins, significant time has passed since the prison break happened. This will explain why eight of the prisoners have been caught.
However, the remaining five are proving to be very difficult to grab hold of. This could be why Special Agent Emily Prentiss will be back in action in "Criminal Minds" season 12.
Actress Paget Brewster will reprise her roles for multiple episodes in the upcoming season of the hit procedural drama. The star has already returned to the set to film her scenes.
Brewster has been documenting her reunion with her "Criminal Minds" family on her Twitter account, where she posted photos of her on the set with her castmates.
It is unknown how many episodes of "Criminal Minds" season 12 episodes Prentiss will appear in. Her return is expected to fill the void left by Derek Morgan with the exit of actor Shemar Moore.
Newcomer Adam Rodriguez will also be helping out catching the bad guys. He was tapped as a series regular to play the role of Luke Alvez.
"Criminal Minds" season 12 will premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 9 p.m. EDT on CBS.
