Has a team member's departure become so much for the Behavioral Analysis Unit to bear that it has become unreliable? That's what recent spoilers for "Criminal Minds" season 12 seem to point at.

Things have been hard for the BAU, most specifically for Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler), after Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore) decided to leave the team to concentrate on his family. According to reports, members of the team would feel as though they are being pushed against the wall, so much so that the BAU will become unreliable.

Obviously, whether that bit about the BAU's unreliability is true or not is something fans of the show would find out when "Criminal Minds" season 12 returns on air.

For now, what is certain is that Reid could be struggling with the reality that his friend and co-worker has left the BAU, to the point where he would find it hard to welcome the new BAU member (Adam Rodriguez) who is stepping in to replace Morgan.

Meanwhile, when the twelfth season returns to the small screen, fans would see closures to certain plots that were somewhat left open in the recently concluded installment. For one, the case of Mr. Scratch, which was left hanging towards the middle of last season, would finally be dealt with.

Moreover, the upcoming season would tackle the escape of 13 murderers who were previously put behind bars. It would be remembered that the team got the call just as they were enjoying a hearty dinner at Agent Rossi's (Joe Mantegna) house.

Finally, there are speculations that Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster) would make a comeback to the show. Fans are hoping her character will be given a significant arc in "Criminal Minds" season 12. Viewers would recall that in season 7, she left the BAU to join the Interpol. Nevertheless, she returns to help the team occasionally when needed. Her last stint on the show was in season 11 when she helped capture an international serial killer.

In related news, co-executive producer Harry Bring recently shared the photo of the crew on the set (Mexican Desert), which indicates that filming for the upcoming season has officially begun.

"Criminal Minds" season 12 will premiere on CBS on Wednesday, Sept. 28.
