Dallas Cowboys roster news: Are the Cowboys ready to part ways with Romo?

Even without their starting quarterback, the Dallas Cowboys have surged in the 2016 season and are now playing with so much confidence.

Tony Romo went down due to a back injury and rookie quarterback Dak Prescott has taken over during his absence.

While most only expected Prescott to cover for Romo, he has transformed his team into, what appears to be, a contender.

Now the question being asked is whether the Cowboys need a change in the quarterback position.

At the moment, there is no question as Romo is still recovering. But the numbers cannot be denied. The Cowboys have a 3-1 record and are second in the NFC East, only behind the unbeaten Philadelphia Eagles.

Furthermore, Prescott is throwing at an unbelievable rate as he is now at 131 passes without an interception. This is a rookie record and he is steadily closing in on Tom Brady's record of 162.

Many consider Prescott a phenomenon and some are thinking that he could replace Romo now, instead of in the future.

This has sparked talks linking Romo to a move away from the Cowboys, with the New York Jets as his possible destination.

Even some former players are buying in on the Prescott hype. Drew Bledsoe believes that it could be time for Romo to step away and make room for the younger prodigy, as stated in his interview with Yahoo Sports.

Whether this may be a premature celebration or placing too much burden on Prescott, it remains to be seen. But at many are counting on Romo and his skills.

It should be interesting to see how he comes back and what state the Cowboys are in when he is ready.

If the Cowboys are on a winning streak, then it is possible that Romo is sidelined until Prescott slips. The franchise may also try to inject Romo for one game to see how he fares with the team at full strength.
