'Daredevil' season 3 release date, news and updates: Charlie Cox wants Bullseye to be the next villain
Though Charlie Cox is currently prepping to return as Matt Murdock in Netflix's "The Defenders," fans have been waiting for an update for the third season of "Daredevil." Cox comments on the third season, and says that he wants to see classic "Daredevil" archenemy Bullseye make an appearance.
In an interview with Screen Geek, Cox says, "It's no secret, I've said it before and I get in trouble every time I say it, I'd like to see Bullseye make an appearance at some point. I think it's a really interesting opportunity. Deborah Ann Woll obviously does not want Bullseye to show up for obvious reasons. Elodie Yung, who plays Elektra, doesn't want Bullseye to show up either."
Some fans have pointed out that the reason Woll and Yung wouldn't want Bullseye to appear is because he is the one who kills them in the comics. Though Elektra (Yung) already died in the second season, she has been known to be a sort of "Lazarus" in the comics and is always getting resurrected. Karen Page (Woll,) however, doesn't have any supernatural connections that could bring her back to life in the show.
"The Defenders'" Twitter page has already confirmed that Elektra will be making a return to the show, and Woll has also been cast in the spin-off series "The Punisher," starring Jon Bernthal. Fans will remember that the second season of "Daredevil" had Frank Castle (Bernthal) acting hostile to everyone except for Karen Page, who discovered the identity of the man responsible for the murder of Frank's family.
With Netflix's two-shows-a-year policy when it comes to Marvel, fans can expect 2017 to have "Iron Fist" and "The Defenders" while 2018 will have "Jessica Jones" season 2 and "The Punisher." It's possible that "Daredevil" season 3 could come out in 2018, but if the streaming service sticks to its policy, it may come in 2019.
No official release date has been announced for "Daredevil" season 3.
