'Dark Souls 3' DLC release date updates and news: First expansion to come out in September?
The third installment of "Dark Souls" series has been a hit since it came out worldwide in April this year. Now, fans will have something to get excited about as game developer From Software recently announced their intention to roll out a DLC pack during fall. Not only that, the company will also release another expansion in 2017.
This is certainly good news for all "Dark Souls 3" fans who have been hoping for more gameplay actions. During his recent interview with GNN Gamer, the President of From Software, Hidetaka Miyazaki, told about their plans regarding the new game title.
The creator of the "Dark Souls" franchise confirms the rumors and speculations about the company's goal to provide the best gaming experience by releasing more DLC updates. He also cleared any rumor of a sequel as the company will only focus on expanding the current game as of the moment.
"Dark Souls 3 will be having several DLCs like previous games. But there's absolutely no plan right now for any sequels, spin-offs or tie-ins," said Miyazaki, as translated by Neogaf user earvcunanan. "But I can't say for certain the possibility is 0%. For example, if a FROM Software developer comes to me five years from now and beg 'please let me make another Dark Souls'. Then I will not rule out the possibility to let my subordinates start a new project."
Although he did not completely rule out the possibility of another installment, Miyazaki is pretty convinced that the "Dark Souls" series is over.
"What is certain for now is, to me personally Dark Souls is over. So rather than make another sequel, I think it's time we take a step to a new direction," he added.
Meanwhile, the company has yet to provide specific details with regard to the new expansion. However, many fans believe that the first DLC will come out as early as July, while some are saying that From Software will roll it out in September.
