Bandai Namco Entertainment recently confirmed that they accidentally launched the "Dark Souls 3" downloadable content (DLC) "Ashes of Ariandel" before the actual launch date.

According to Gamespot, the video game publisher responded to the news outlet with the following statement, "Due to a logistical error, the Dark Souls III Ashes of Ariandel DLC was made available for download for a short period of time for Xbox One players. We have since corrected this scheduling error and the Dark Souls III Ashes of Ariandel DLC will now be available on October 24, 2016 at 3 PM PDT for Steam players and October 24, 2016 at 9 PM PDT for console players. We regret any confusion this may have caused to players and Dark Souls III fans; we look forward to seeing everyone within the world of Ariandel."

One Reddit user claimed that he was able to download the "Ashes of Ariandel" DLC on the Xbox One days before its premiere. Other gamers in the forum also reported the same. Some even took screencaps of the progress of their download.

GameSpot confirmed that users were able to download the game from the Xbox One store by simply clicking on install.

Video game developer FormSoftware previously teased the new additions to the game. On a Facebook post, the developers announced that the update will feature improved regular attack animations of weapons such as the hammer, greatsword and other first category weapons.

"Dark Souls 3: Ashes of Ariandel" will be available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The upcoming DLC is the first of two DLCs that will be launched for the third installment of the "Dark Souls" franchise. The expansion will cost gamers $15. Meanwhile, the season pass will cost $25.

The second expansion is expected to launch in 2017.
