'Dark Souls II' Bugs, Problems News: Game Developer Make Promise to Fix Weapons Bug
From Software has announced that it is working on a fix for a bug on "Dark Souls II" following mounting complaints from gamers.
Since the game was released last year, gamers have expressed irritation over a bug that degrades weapons when the game is played at 60fps in PS4, Xbox One and PC.
The existence of the bug was first noted last year but it was then only confined to the PC version of "Dark Souls II" when it was played at a faster frame rate of 60fps.
From Software was made aware of the presence of the bug but apparently chose to ignore it.
However, the game developer was eventually compelled to act when the bug also started appearing on consoles.
In its latest announcement, From Software said the fix for the bug will come when the upcoming patch for the game is released.
The bug starts degrading weapons in "Dark Souls II as soon as they are used to kill a few enemies. Given the increased degradation rate in the game, players are forced to head over to a blacksmith regularly to fix their weapons and had to create a bonfire repeatedly to improve their weapons' durability. PC Gamer said this poses a major headache to gamers, some of whom lose their cool when they had to deal with a huge amount of enemies in some areas like the Forest of Fallen Giants.
In its statement, From Software said the fix on the bug will be applied to PS4, Steam and Xbox One. It said the fix will be most useful to those who run the game at 60fps as the durability rates of weapons are directly linked to the frame rate.
From Software has not set a date for the release of the patch but promised to update gamers soon. This could mean that weapons durability could be increased or the game engine could be tweaked to make the problem go away.
