'Dark Souls III' DLC 'Ashes of Ariandel' gets a new trailer; to be released in the US the same day as Japan
"Ashes of Ariandiel," the next downloadable content (DLC) for Form Software's "Dark Souls III" has received a new trailer which showcases the new creatures and horrific monsters that players will come to encounter in the world of Ariandel. It's also reported that the game will come out on Oct. 25 in the U.S., the very same release date for Japan.
According to Blastr, Eric Hartness, Vice President of Marketing for Bandai Namco Entertainment America, had this to say about the upcoming expansion: "Dark Souls III: Ashes of Ariandel continues FromSoftware's track record of providing best-in-class post game downloadable content support, with hours of new challenges, new bosses, new mysterious locations to explore, new items to obtain, and new ways to challenge other players online, it's the perfect time to jump back into one of the best games of 2016."
With the release of "Ashes of Ariandel," players can expect this to be the last expansion to come to the franchise in a while. Hidetaka Miyazaki, creator of "Dark Souls" has confirmed that "Dark Souls III" will be the last of the franchise, and that From Software will be focusing on new games in the future. "What is certain for now is, to me personally 'Dark Souls' is over. So rather than make another sequel, I think it's time we take a step to a new direction," said Miyazaki.
It's quite interesting to note that the expansion's setting, Ariandel, sounds very similar to the setting of Disney's "Frozen," Arendelle. Just like Arendelle, Ariandel is an ancient town covered in snow, and based on the trailer, the game will have players trying to uncover the mystery behind a statue of a woman (who will probably be named Elsa).
"Ashes of Ariendel" will come out on Oct. 25, and it will cost $15 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
