'Darksiders III' release date, news details & updates: Nordic bringing out remastered versions before a third installment?
Fans of THQ Nordic's action hack-and-slash game, "Darksiders," is still anticipating its next installment, "Darksiders III." It had been six years since THQ released the last installment of the game, but fans are hopeful that the developer is already working on the next one as Nordic Games' executive producer confirmed in a forum that they still have future plans for a third "Darksiders."
In addition, fans speculate that Nordic Games might release remastered versions of the first two "Darksiders" games to make it compatible with new consoles that sport high-quality graphics. This remastered releases are also speculated to hype up the incoming release of "Darksiders III."
The executive producer and product development director of Nordic Games, Reinhard Pollice, also reaffirmed that the company for now is focusing on its existing games because they aim to broaden the game in the market.
In addition, it is speculated that Mark Hamill, a voice actor for "Darksiders" is coming back to lend his voice as The Watcher in a new version of the game, known as "Darksiders: Warmastered Edition."
The Warmastered Edition is merely a remaster with improved visuals. It is slated for a Nov. 22 release on PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One consoles, while it is due in Nov. 29 for PC players. This edition will also support 4K display for compatibility with the new PS4 Pro.
Pollice also said that the company always wanted a remastered version of "Darksiders" as classic games such as those still have an edge in new consoles, only that it needed improvement in its graphics.
"Darksiders III" has no estimated release date yet, but it is expected to come out for Xbox One, PS4 and PC platforms.
First released in 2010, the "Darksiders" franchise received generally positive reviews due to its rich storyline and unique game-world. The game already sold over 1 million units worldwide.
