'Dead Rising 4' release date, news and updates: game losing campaign co-op mode
This December will mark the arrival of the fourth "Dead Rising" game, which will have photographer Frank West returning to his hometown of Willamette. The game will be bringing in a lot of new features for the "Dead Rising" franchise, but it will reportedly not have a Campaign co-op mode.
According to Destructoid, Capcom Vancouver producer David McAnerin said during a Q&A with fans, "So, in the story mode, it's a single player story mode, you're going to play just as Frank. The four player co-op is our multiplayer mode. It's a little bit inspired by the original Infinity mode for the old-school fans."
Though it may not exactly be a campaign, co-op will still be available for the game, which is good news for players. McAnerin described the mode to take place inside a mall and it will allow up to four players. A little back story will be given for the available characters, but the basic gist of the mode is that they will start in a safehouse, collect weapons and complete missions. The mode will end with all the players getting back to the safehouse by the end of the day.
McAnerin used words like "crazy," "mayhem," and "madness" when describing the missions for the game, and though it may not be a complete campaign, at least the mode will still have its own mini goals and missions.
According to trailers of the game, "Dead Rising 4" will be giving players the option of mixing and matching weapons in order to kill more zombies. The weapons can either range from anything from handeld projectile weapons to weaponized vehicles.
Gamers will also get to put Frank in different costumes that would allow him to get different powers and abilities; one of which is an exo-suit that can amp Frank's overall strength and speed.
"Dead Rising 4" is set for release on Tuesday, Dec. 6.
