'Deadpool 2' release date, cast news, plot updates: Wade Wilson to get a boyfriend? Cable might be showing up soon
Ryan Reynolds is opening up his character's boundaries, which might lead to Wade Wilson having a boyfriend in "Deadpool 2." Meanwhile, Deadpool's ally in one of the original Marvel comic series, Cable, might be appearing in the title.
To be directed by "John Wick's" David Leitch, "Deadpool 2" is set to premiere sometime in 2018 with Reynolds reprising his role as the sarcastic Merc with a Mouth known as Wade Wilson, also known as Deadpool.
In an interview with Variety, Reynolds talked about how his character is open to all types of love, referring to the pansexual side of Deadpool. The actor also teased that Deadpool having a boyfriend could be a possible feat for the sequel.
"What love is to Deadpool may not be what love is to Batman or someone else. I think that could be played up more. He's an outsider in every way, shape, and form," Reynolds explained.
Reynolds doesn't think that Deadpool having a boyfriend would be a problem in terms of viewers since they were already banned in some countries such as China.
Meanwhile, one character that may appear in "Deadpool 2" is Wade Wilson's ally in the "Cable & Deadpool" comic series, Cable.
"Deadpool" co-writer Rhett Reese shared with Den of Geek that Cable will be featured soon.
"I mean it's a character everyone loves. Whether he's in the sequel or whether he's in an X-Force thing still remains to be determined," Reese explained.
While there is no one yet tagged to play the anticipated character, Cinema Blend suggested that the actor should be a well-aged gentleman that brings a good mix of toughness and tragedy.
Possible actors who can play Cable, according to the site, are Stephen Lang, Ron Perlman, and "The Walking Dead" season 7 star who plays antagonist Negan, Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
"Deadpool 2" is set to premiere in 2018.
