Dell 2-in-1 Latitude 7285 comes with wireless charging features via WiTricity magnetic resonance technology
Dell invests in wireless technology with its announcement of the two-in-one Latitude 7285 laptop. It is the company's pilot device to measure the behavior of the market with the new technology that offers convenience and innovation.
The first-ever wireless charging laptop was announced at the recently concluded Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017. The company jumps on the bandwagon of coming out with wireless features that some premium handsets are offering.
"Dell will deliver a true wireless experience by incorporating WiTricity magnetic resonance wireless charging technology in the 12-inch Latitude 7285 2-in-1, which will be available from later this year," Dell announced.
"When combined with a charging mat and WiGig wireless dock, users can take the Latitude 2-in-1 with them without disengaging any wires or a physical dock," the company added.
Dell two-in-one Latitude 7285 does the wireless charging by using a charging mat, in which the device automatically charges once the laptop is in place. Then, it will routinely reconnect to the WiGig dock wherein details are shown on its external display.
According to Tech Times, once Latitude 7285 is placed on the pad with the keyboard attached to it, the power will be transported and promptly be delivered to the machine, avoiding the keyboard. This is said to be the wireless charging technology that the company is offering.
There is also a wired charging option that users can use, giving the users two options on how to power-up the hybrid device. Also, Latitude 7285 comes with a travel keyboard and productivity keyboard with a four-hour battery pack. This is aside from the six-hour battery life of the device.
And since the Latitude 7285 can be converted to tablet, necessary components can be attached to it to make it suitable for business. There are three keyboards that can be connected to it, but one variant is said to function smoothly with the wireless charging mat.
The Dell two-in-one Latitude 7285 is forecast to come with a hefty price, which may be around $899.
