Dell XPS 13 update, review: selling starts on Jan. 5; latest review reiterates poor webcam positioning
Those who want to own a Dell XPS 13 should know that the upcoming version of the model will be available starting Jan. 5. Here are the specs that every enthusiast should know, plus a couple of reviews from tech experts themselves.
The new version of Dell XPS 13 will be up for grabs on the company's official website and on Best Buy with a price of $999 for the basic variant. The device gives the former model a great revamp as far as the design is concerned due to the thinner size. This makes the laptop even handier and easier to use.
However, this particular feature gave no substantial difference when compared with the basic Dell XPS 13, according to the review of Laptopmag. The noticeable change apparently is seen on the device's hinge, which can now be rotated to see the four display options.
Tech Radar published a review, commending Dell XPS 13 for its thinner design, aside from the striking IGZO screen, Windows Hello ready support and the inclusion of Thunderbolt 3. In spite of this, the hybrid laptop can be improved further by adding a microSD slot and improving the position of the webcam, which was already criticized by many users and tech analysts.
Under the hood, Dell XPS 13 has Intel Core i5 and i7 series running in the background, coupled with a Gorilla Glass display that excels in offering a 1,800-pixel high-definition resolution. The two-in-one laptop also has several ports available as compared with the regular model.
The USB Type-C port is added in the Dell XPS 13 so as to improve the charging capabilities and the display output of the device. A USB Type-A port is also available so that the device can be connected to accessories that use regular USB.
Dell XPS 13 can also be connected wirelessly through 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Intel Smart Connect support and Bluetooth 4.2.
