Denver Broncos were in for a big scare after quarterback Trevor Siemian went down in the second quarter when they went up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

As it turned out Siemian suffered a sprain in the acromioclavicular (AC) joint of his shoulder and was initially feared to be out for a period of time. The quarterback is now listed as "day-to-day" and may still make it back when the Broncos face the Atlanta Falcons for Week 5 on Sunday, Oct. 9.

That is promising news for the quarterback, and it was revealed that Siemian was actually available to return in the game against the Buccaneers, but coach Gary Kubiak thought otherwise.

"Our plans moving forward are for Trevor to be there Sunday (against the Falcons) and be ready to go, but he's day to day," Kubiak told Denver Sports 760, as reported on the Bronco's official website.

On the other hand, Siemian admitted that he would have to listen to the professionals to see how things go. He said, "I think I'm just going to take it one day at a time and see what (Head Athletic Trainer Steve Antonopulos) says."

Easily, this means that Siemian will have to sit out for most of the preparation period and will be limited to very short practice sessions. It is also very likely that he will have no contact during these practices and will concentrate on play calling and passing as they prepare for Atlanta.

During the win over the Buccaneers, rookie quarterback Paxton Lynch covered for Siemian through the game and had a decent performance.

He had a total of 170 yards from 14-of-24 passing. Lynch had three scoring drives and completed his first career touchdown pass when he linked with Emmanuel Sanders.

It should be very interesting to see how the offensive line will be tweaked in order to protect Siemian more if he decides to play on Week 5.

Siemian has been excellent so far in the season and is a great piece on the Broncos' attempt to defend their championship.
