'Descendants of the Sun' season 2 news update: Director Lee Eung Bok quits
Numerous fans of the hit drama "Descendants of the Sun" have been waiting for news of a second season, but it's been reported that the director Lee Eung Bok has quit the series after finding out that the main actors Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo were not reprising their roles for the second season.
Rumors claim that Lee Eung Bok is disappointed that the two main actors are not returning and that the second season of "Descendants of the Sun" will feature two new actors for the starring role. His resignation came after news of head writer Kim Eun Sook quitting the series hit last week.
Of course, there is still a possibility that a second season of the said drama is going to push through, but without the presence of two prominent figures in the production, it is highly doubtful that the second season will have the same quality that the first season had.
There have been rumors going around that the production has been shut down altogether, but the KBS Network has remained quiet about the news surrounding the second season of "Descendants of the Sun." Both Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo have also been approached, but the pair has declined to comment on news about the troubled production.
The Songs were rumored to have been spotted shooting for the production of season 2, but other news points out that the two have been busy with other showbiz commitments to show up in the second season.
If they were to appear in the second season, however, it's possible that they will only have a cameo.
As for the fate of the second season of "Descendants of the Sun," only time will tell if the show will continue on without the Song couple.
