'Destiny 2' release date, news & update: Console and PC versions to release at the same time?

Bungie has massive plans for "Destiny 2" that they plan to put together by starting from scratch. Despite this, plans will not have to worry about a delay.

The sequel is still expected to be released next year. However, there remains to be no clear information about Bungie's approach in rolling it out.

"Destiny 2" is expected to be released for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One, but it is also planned to come out for the personal computer (PC).

Porting a game to a PC is quite the challenge and will take time to make, which begs the question of whether or not it will come out simultaneously with the console versions.

According to NeoGAF user with codename benny_a, who got the information from a friend affiliated with Activision, "Destiny 2" will be developed by Vicarious Vision with High Moon helping out. This means that there will be teams designated to work on it and focus on it.

This means that the PC version of "Destiny 2" might not be late to the party after all. Raid matchmaking is also expected to be featured in the game, a feature the original did not have.

As far as the gameplay and story goes, benny_a said that "Destiny 2" will be a complete departure from the original "Destiny" game.

"What I heard is that the reason it was rebooted earlier this year (and is now helmed by GAF poster Luke Smith) is because the original version felt too much like an expansion," the tipster explained.

"I'm expecting them to change everything. I don't think Bungie has decided yet what you'll be able to bring over from year 1 or what you'll get as a reward for being a long-term player. But I expect a fresh start," he continued.

"Destiny 2" will be released sometime next year.
