'Destiny 2' release date rumors: Bungie to focus on the sequel after the release of 'Rise of Iron'?
The last DLC pack of the current "Destiny" video game has already been confirmed by game developer Bungie and publisher Activision. The much-anticipated final expansion of the title was announced on a live stream event through Twitch. As expected, it will be called "Rise of Iron" and it is set to arrive on Sept. 20. The downloadable content will feature a new playable location called Plaguelands, which is said to be the home of the game's fallen enemies.
In addition to Plaguelands, the "Rise of Iron" expansion will also feature new playable regions, Felwinter Peak and the recreation of the game's starter area, The Wall. The DLC will also include game updates such as a new Raid, new Strike, a multiplayer mode, new patrols, a level cap bump, enemies and additional gear.
One interesting addition that will be included in the expansion is the comeback of the popular rocket launcher, Gjallarhorn. Players can only obtain the weapon through a quest or by completing a mission. According to a report by Forbes, the limited edition black-and-silver version Gjallarhorn will not be available to players who complete the quest; however, gamers who preorder the DLC will be getting the rare weapon.
Meanwhile, players who do not have the original game and the first two DLC packs will not be able to enjoy the third one.
Fans will be expecting more about the sequel of the game once the final DLC pack is rolled out. However, Bungie and Activision have yet to provide solid details regarding the development and release date of the second installment. New reports suggest that it will come in 2017. As of now, fans can only hope that both companies will shift their focus to the upcoming sequel after the release of the third expansion.
The new "Rise of Iron" expansion will be available for $30. The game is exclusive to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
