Destiny Game Update; PC Version Coming Soon? Fans Overwhelmingly Demand PC Port
On September 9, 2014, the Destiny game published by Activision and developed by Bungie for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One was released. However, people are starting to question the possibilities of a version for the PC.
Erik Hirshberg, CEO for Activision, has previously hinted that Destiny for PC is a good idea since so many PC users are anticipating a release.
In an interview with Polygon, the CEO said, "It is [a good fit], and it's something we're talking about and looking at very carefully, and obviously it makes a lot of sense with the genre and the type of game it is."
"You know, developing on PC is a different animal than developing for consoles and so we just want to make sure that we're putting one foot in front of the other and getting it right, and that it's of the highest possible quality. But obviously I see the same things about the natural fit," he added.
However, he also emphasized that developing the game to fit the PC will be more complicated than it seems.
Bungie Studio's lead designer also expressed his opinions regarding the release of a PC version for Destiny in an interview with Eurogamer, saying, "I wish it was that simple. It's pretty complicated. That doesn't mean that it can't happen in the future, it just means it won't happen right now."
Bakken added, "We're doing it all internally ourselves. That's a huge endeavour. So when I'm playtesting and I'm trying to play PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS3, that's a lot of work. Adding another thing on there is just crazy. It's crazy to think of right now."
It looks like no announcement regarding a PC release will be made any time soon, but with the increasing demand from players, the possibilities are still there.
