'Destiny' The Dawning event release date news: Sparrow Racing League, Icebreaker to return on Dec. 13

A free holiday update will be released by Bungie as part of "Destiny: Rise of Iron" December event called The Dawning.

In a post on the game studio's official website, Bungie's community manager DeeJ revealed that the holiday event will begin on Tuesday, Dec. 13. It will feature a number of new Quests and Bounties, as well as the return of the fan-favorite Sparrow Racing League.

A separate post from DeeJ described the Sparrow Racing League as "six-player free-for-all death race through enemy territory."

Amanda Holliday will still act as the players' main quest giver for the Sparrow Racing League. Players can check in with her to get their bounties.

According to reports, those who were not able to finish the league when it was first released last year will now have a chance to do so when The Dawning goes live this month. But after the December event, the Sparrow Racing League will still be available in private matches.

The upcoming version of Sparrow Racing League come out with two new tracks as well as a brand-new Light-equipped gear.

Other contents of The Dawning event of "Destiny: Rise of Iron" December event includes several new Exotic weapons. This will be called the Nova Mortis and the Abbadon, which are considered as the Void and Solar versions of the Thunderlord.

The Red Death will also receive two new skins, which are called the Steel Witch and the White Witch. On the other hand, the Black Spindle will also receive two new skins known as the Cold Between Starts and Ragbone.

Another returning item that will be released during The Dawning December event of "Destiny: Rise of Iron" is called the Icebreaker. This is reportedly a fitting content for the upcoming winter-themed update.

More details about "Destiny: Rise of Iron" The Dawning event are expected to be released before it begins next week. The event will last until Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017.
