Destiny's 'Prison of Elders': Developer Bungie's Own Team Fails to Hurdle Its Own Game
In the third livestream focused on the upcoming "House of Wolves" DLC for the game "Destiny," game developer Bungie hit a snag when its own team of top-caliber players failed to hurdle the game's "Prison of Elders" challenge, quitting after four rounds at level 34.
While this was embarrassing for the developer, it showed that the "Prison of Elders" is one of the toughest parts of the upcoming DLC.
Soon after the live stream event concluded, many gaming sites published glowing reviews of the game, noting that it came with a number of twists. Reviewers compared it favorably with the Firefight mode in "Halo" and the popular Horde mode in "Gears of War."
IGN said "Prison of Elders" featured great gameplay and provided a wonderful experience for a team of players.
The "Prison of Elders" is a player-versus-environment, or PvE, game designed by Bungie to replace the raid in the DLC. In it, players have to defeat wave after wave of enemies.
The "Prison of Elders" in the DLC, as it names denotes, will serve as a prison for some of the most notorious members of the Fallen. Overseeing the prison is Varkis, also a member of the Fallen who has remained loyal to the Queen of the Awoken. He provides players access to the prison. He also functions as the warden, the main narrator and even the seller of rewards to players.
In the prison, there is a mix of objective-based gameplay and strike missions. Once they enter, players will find themselves in a room with four doors. One door will open and the first challenge will start. In this space, the player will have to battle beings from the Hive, Fallen or the Cabal while avoiding landmines.
Three challenges are available to play per week. Each player will have to collaborate with two others to form a team of three to take on the "Prison of Elders."
