'Diablo 3' DLC release date news: Seasons announced for consoles; Armory and Challenge Rifts to be added
Blizzard Entertainment has big plans for "Diablo 3" and much of it was revealed at the Blizzcon. One of the big things that came out of the event is the release of the Seasons to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
"For those who aren't familiar with them, Seasons offer the chance to earn a full six-piece class set for achieving certain goals, while also granting new pets, cosmetic items and more," Blizzard detailed in a blog post.
"If that's not enough, you'll also be able to race against other players for the chance to earn a coveted spot on the Seasonal leaderboards. How far will your Season Journey extend? There's only one way to find out! Keep an eye out for this feature starting next year," they added.
The Seasons simply allow players to create new characters and develop them as Seasonal Heroes, where they will be playable for a certain season only.
Seasons are simply a clean slate where "Diablo 3" players can start from scratch, which means that their existing characters and items will not be usable there.
The feature has been available to the PC and Mac versions of "Diablo 3" since 2014 and serves as one of the biggest reasons the game remains a hit to many so it would not be surprising Seasons are finally finding their way to the consoles.
Armory and Challenge Rifts are also headed to "Diablo 3" next year. The former will make it easier for gamers to, among others, manage their loadouts, play styles, and builds namely skills, items, passives, Kanai's Cube powers, and Legendary Gems.
Challenge Rifts should allow gamers to try out a new build without having to gear up for it. "If you've been hoping for a way to discover new builds while racing to beat your previous personal best in Greater Rifts, this is your chance," Blizzard teased.
