'Diablo' game series latest news: Blizzard celebrates 20th anniversary of 'Diablo'
Blizzard's famous "Diablo" series will be celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, on Dec. 31. To commemorate the birth of the first "Diablo" video game, Blizzard has decided to hold special in-game events and offer goodies not only in "Diablo III," but also in the game publishing company's other notable video games.
According to Blizzard, players will also get to experience the special in-game events and goodies they have prepared in video games such as "Heroes of the Storm," "Overwatch," "Hearthstone," "StarCraft II," and "World of Warcraft." However, the events and items will only be made available for a limited amount of time, so interested "Diablo" fans are encouraged to check them out as soon as possible.
In "Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls," the special event is called "The Darkening of Tristram," during which gamers can explore the reimagined version of the original cathedral in "Diablo 3" as well as recapture the playthrough experience of the original "Diablo" game.
A new Diablo-themed portrait will be made available in "Heroes of the Storm" as the battle for the High Heavens continues. In "Hearthstone," gamers are tasked to unravel the secret of a hooded stranger in a Tavern Brawl. "Overwatch" will be offering in-game sprays representing players' favorite "Diablo III" classes, including a new player icon which has been modeled after the Lord of Terror.
In "StarCraft II," gamers can make the Lord of Terror work for them with a Diablo-themed worker portrait. On the other hand, in "World of Warcraft," strange things are afoot in the world of Azeroth with the denizens of Sanctuary crossing over into an unknown world.
The brief descriptions provided in Blizzard's recent announcement about the special in-game events for the 20th anniversary of the "Diablo" game franchise are limited. However, according to PC Gamer, more information about the anniversary celebration will be shared by the game developer company in the near future.
