'Dishonored 2' release date news update: Gameplay could take up to 20 hours; sequel will kill off Corvo?

"Dishonored 2," the upcoming sequel to the stealth action/adventure video game "Dishonored," will reportedly offer players a much longer gaming experience compared to its predecessor.

In a recent Twitter post, Arkane Studios co-creative director Harvey Smith said that the studio was going for 12 to 20 hours of gameplay in "Dishonored 2" but that first-time players could take even longer to finish the game.

"We were aiming at 12-20 hrs playtime (dependent heavily on play-style); playtest says more like 16-20 first time through #Dishonored2" he wrote.

Smith's tweet indicated that "Dishonored 2" will offer gamers more bang for their buck. Responding to a Twitter follower who said that it took him four hours to finish "Dishonored 1," the Arkane boss said that the norm for the original game is 8 to 12 hours. Smith also noted that 16 to 20 hours of gameplay "feels like the right length" for a game that "really rewards multiple playthroughs."

Meanwhile, a new theory about the possible death of a major character in the "Dishonored" franchise has recently driven fans of the games into a speculation frenzy.

According to rumors, Arkane may be killing off Corvo Attano, one of the protagonists in the "Dishonored" video game series, in the upcoming "Dishonored 2."

The theory comes from Twinfinite, which provided several reasons as to why this could occur.

According to the website, one of the most telling signs that Corvo could meet his end in "Dishonored 2" is that most of the footage for the sequel focuses on Emily, his daughter. Emily is the only other playable character in the game. Twinfinite suggested that this could be a move towards getting players used to the idea of Emily headlining the rest of the franchise.

Twinfinite also pointed at the "Dishonored 2" trailer, in which Corvo said "One last time, old friend." While this does not necessarily mean that Corvo is bidding everyone goodbye, it also certainly sounded like Corvo's storyline in the video game sequel won't be ending well.

Furthermore, the website noted that Corvo's primary duty in the game is to act as Emily's bodyguard, which means putting his life on the line to protect hers.

"Dishonored 2" will be made available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Friday, Nov. 11.
