'Dishonored 2' release date, news & update: Day one update, PS4 pre-load now live; sequel debuts Nov. 11
Ahead of the video game sequel's launch on Friday, it has been revealed that the Day One update for "Dishonored 2" is now live and takes up 9.1 GB on the PlayStation 4 and 9 GB on the Xbox One.
Copies of "Dishonored 2" are already on their way to gamers. Those who pre-ordered the game will receive it on Thursday, Nov. 10.
Reddit user LegalTRR confirmed the size of the day one patch for the stealth action/adventure video game and reported that it took a long time to update the game. The Redditor also revealed that the update history for the Day One update said that it included "improved texture streamer, shadow quality, reloading time, audio mix, [and] framerate performance." Mid mission stats screens were also added, as were screenshot previews for saved games. The update also included various bug fixes.
According to PlayStation Lifestyle, Bethesda has previously confirmed that "Dishonored 2" players will have to download the Day One update, but didn't indicate that it will be 9 GB.
The gaming blog also noted that the "Dishonored 2" pre-load, which weighs in at 48 GB, is now live for those who pre-ordered the game.
Meanwhile, Steam has reportedly updated its page for "Dishonored 2" to indicate that the video game utilizes the third-party DRM Denuvo, which has been used by many high-profile titles in recent years.
The Denuvo Antitamper DRM has proven to be successful in thwarting piracy for PC games, even months after a specific title has been released. The platform has been used to successfully protect the FIFA games and other EA titles from piracy.
The "Dishonored 2" Steam page stated that there is a five-devices-per-day limitation for the game — a Denuvo security measure that has often been criticized by those in the PC community. Aside from this limitation, Denuvo has also reportedly caused SSD degradation and other performance issues.
"Dishonored 2" is out this Friday, Nov. 11, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows.
