Disney New 'White Fang' Movie News: Dreams Do Come True

Leave it to Disney to make dreams come true, even when such dreams involve not just fictional characters but also real people who are ready to pursue higher goals.

This is the premise of Disney's upcoming "White Fang" movie where cinematographer Lance Accord will be making his directorial debut.

"White Fang" had an original version released in 1991. It was a film adaptation of the iconic novel by Jack London, which told the story of a young man and a hybrid wolf-dog who became friends with each other and shared their adventures during the Alaskan Gold Rush.

Academy Award nominee Jose Rivera will be writing the screenplay for the new and updated version. Rivera is known for being the scriptwriter of "Motorcycle Diaries," which was also a book adaptation.

It's not clear yet whether or not the new "White Fang" will remain faithful to the book, especially on the matter of point of view regarding story development. Jack London's novel presented the story from the point of view of the wolf dog, who mostly saw life in terms of violence and the struggle to survive.

Much of that was toned down in the 1991 version which starred the then yet young actor, Ethan Hawke.

Since the new and updated version is still under development, there is no word yet on who will play the lead roles.

It's still also unclear as to what age range the updated version of "White Fang" will be targeting. The target audience of any show, whether in movies or in television, is a major consideration on how much violent content will be allowed in the story.
