In honor of the original "Double Dragon" game's 30th anniversary, gaming developer Arc System Works just announced that "Double Dragon IV" will be made available next year.

It can be recalled that Arc System Works bought the rights to the "Double Dragon" game franchise back in 2015. And according to TechSpot, the company is capitalizing on the nostalgia trend in the gaming community by announcing a brand new entry to the Double Dragon" series, whose last properly-numbered sequel was released back in 1990.

To promote the upcoming installment to the "Double Dragon" franchise, a two-minute trailer was released online. The video contains a long montage of the original "Double Dragon" NES game before introducing the new gameplay footage of "Double Dragon IV." From the looks of it, the upcoming game remains very, very true to the original NES game classic in terms of its graphics and gameplay.

According to Gamespot, the "Double Dragon IV" game will also feature a few added extras not present in the original game. Aside from the story mode, the main menu features a 2P Duel, a Japanese mode, and another unspecified feature which may be announced in detail later on.

The upcoming game sequel is directed by series creator Yoshihisa Kishimoto, the same director of the original arcade game, "Double Dragon," in 1987. A lot of members from the development teams of earlier game installments have also returned for the project, such as character designer Koji Ogata and composer Kazunaka Yamane among others.

Details about the upcoming game are still very limited at present. However, The Verge reports that the company may be rolling out additional information about "Double Dragon IV" in the weeks to come, before the game's release.

Arc System Works will be releasing "Double Dragon IV" on the PlayStation 4 and PC on Jan. 30, 2017. According to the game's official website, the game can be downloaded for 800 yen (approximately $8).
