'Double Dragon IV' release date set on Jan. 30; promo video showcases Billy and Jimmy with their fighting moves
Arc System Works is out to release "Double Dragon IV," which is the upcoming installment of the hit franchise. The title will be released for PlayStation 4 (PS4) in January.
Players of "Double Dragon IV" will expect a certain kind of nostalgia since its ambiance is said to be similar to the rest of the existing titles. This is due to the fact that some people involved in the original title are also working on the upcoming game. This includes game director Yoshihisa Kishimoto, character designer Koji Ogata and composer Kazunaka Yamane.
Kishimoto is known for the hit arcade game, "Double Dragon," which was released in 1987. The original title was so successful that its sequel continued to be on the top list of beat-'em-up games of all time, according to Digital Trends.
The release of "Double Dragon IV" gives a hint of success, considering the fact that the original title gained the popularity it needs.
The title brings the players to the scene of Marian's murder, which is the event following "Double Dragon 2." This should mean that "Double Dragon IV" has the retro vibe that veteran players are familiar with. Furthermore, its 8-bit graphical output is made with animations that the franchise is known for.
A video is presented to introduce "Double Dragon IV" to the public. The trailer shows Billy and Jimmy showing off their signature moves as their enemy is kicked, thrown in the air and beaten up until she flies away from the screen.
"Double Dragon IV" is the first numbered series of the franchise after "Double Dragon III: The Rosetta Stone," which was released in 1990. A "Double Dragon Trilogy" came out in 2013 to include all the first three titles in the franchise.
The upcoming title is set to come out on Jan. 30, 2017 for Windows PC and PS4. More updates will come out soon so stay tuned.
