Fans and followers of "Downton Abbey" are anxious to know if all the unresolved issues that arose during the run of Season 5 will be met with satisfactory resolution. "Downton Abbey" is an ITV (UK) TV period drama series that is aired by PBS in the U.S.

Everyone should brace themselves for a possible disappointment. That's just par for the course, anyway, since even in real life, things do not really get resolved so quickly.

Just the same, there are interesting developments to look forward to as "Downton Abbey" closes for this season.

For one thing, the marriage of Lady Rose MacClare (Lily James) to Atticus Aldridge (Matt Barber), a union which has met nearly all kinds of obstacles, will finally push through. It's high soap all the way as bitter wrangling within the families almost put a stop to the union ever becoming official.

Meanwhile, Tom Branson (Allen Leach) plans to go to America. However, this plan won't take place until after Christmas.

Production stills that have gone around also gave spoilers. John Bates (Brendan Coyle) is shown with Anna Bates (Joanne Fraggartt) while they are at a police station. Miss Denker (Sue Johnston) is also given her moment, but what a strange acting moment it was, as it had to do with her personality—the unknown to the public side of it, that is.

As for Lady Mary Crawley (Michelle Dockery), a new romantic interest is being prepared. Whether this develops into something endearingly solid remains to be seen.

In the midst of all those conflicts and situational problems, the good news is that "Downton Abbey" has been renewed for another season.

Fans who will feel the customary pinch of loneliness while the next season is not yet airing can look forward to the show's Christmas special. There's always something good to look forward to during the festive holiday season, after all.
