"The Jaws of Hakkon" expansion pack for "Dragon Age: Inquisition" has been drawing rave reviews for its rich themes and gameplay since it was released for the Xbox One and PC last March. The game's DLC is due for release at the end of May for the PS4, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Before embarking on this DLC, the Inquisitor in the main game has to be at level 20 before a player can access "The Jaws of Hakkon," which takes place during the main campaign. This means the DLC does not have a story of its own but is based on a new area called Frostback Basin, which fortunately is as big as the other areas such as the Hinterlands.

In its review, GameWatcher notes that the area is teeming with quests and enemies. There is a native tribe called the Avvar which is comprised of two rival factions. These factions pose numerous challenges to the player as he steps into the role of the Inquisitor and discovers the fate of the last person who donned the mantle of Inquisitor several centuries ago.

As for the fight sequences in the game, the reviewer points out that they can be very tough, adding that the battles are fought in spectacular settings that are attention-grabbing.

In its review of the expansion pack, GameSpot states that it is loaded with carefully crafted story, interesting characters and tough combat. It adds that in some sections, gamers are forced to go over areas they have already been traversed which GameSpot says is not necessary anymore. Comparing it to the main game, GameSpot notes that there are differences, but these are minor and do not diminish the quality of the pack.

IGN in its review describes the expansion pack as a familiar mix of "bread and butter" elements that are present in the main game. However, the review states that it does not stand out from the main game but provides a beautiful area to explore along with an interesting story which it says is a great addition to the universe of the game.
