'Elementary' season 5 spoilers: episode 13 delayed for NFL championship weekend
After the intense case in which Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) and Joan Watson's (Lucy Liu) murder investigation led them to discover a bigger problem, the fifth season of "Elementary" will go on a brief hiatus.
The police procedural drama will be on a short break next Sunday, Jan. 22, for the national Football League (NFL) championship weekend. But the series will return on Jan. 29 for its 13th episode titled "Over a Barrel."
CBS has yet to reveal the synopsis for the upcoming episode, but it is expected to feature another difficult case that will be dealt with by the former Scotland Yard consultant and his partner.
Meanwhile, the previous episode of the series featured a simple murder case in which Sherlock and Joan had to investigate the death of a man wearing a clown costume whose body was found in the woods. While the two were trying to find out who killed the clown, Sherlock discovered that the aqueduct that holds the water supply for the entire New York City had been contaminated by a mysterious virus.
To further investigate the source of the water contamination, Sherlock and Joan alerted the Department of Homeland Security. But surprisingly, the department wanted to keep the pair out of the investigation team. This did not prevent the two to stop their investigation.
They eventually discovered that the virus was not exactly lethal, but it is made to incite fear and panic among the residents of the city. Joan and Sherlock also found out that the proliferation of the virus can work for the benefit of a member of the Department of Environmental Protection named Wendell Hecht, who owned the only water filtration system that can eradicate the virus in the water system.
CBS is expected to reveal more information about "Elementary" season 5 episode 13 plot in the coming days.
