Emma Watson and Prince Harry Dating? 'Harry Potter' Actress Denies Rumors of Secretly Dating

What started as a random story in the Australian magazine Woman's Day has spiralled out of control and become the hot topic in social media. The magazine reported that actress Emma Watson and Britain's Prince Harry were going on secret dates.

Watson reacted quickly by taking to Twitter last Sunday to remind her followers about "not believing everything written in the media," effectively shooting down the rumor and denying the veracity of the report.

The magazine article alleged that Prince Harry, 30, asked Watson, 24, out via e-mail when he found out that she had broken off with her rugby player boyfriend, Matthew Janney. The article mentioned insiders commenting on how the Prince was "smitten" with Watson and that they were, indeed, a couple.

Watson, best known as "Hermione" in the Harry Potter movies, has enjoyed popularity even after the last Harry Potter movie was shown. She has starred in other popular movies and is regarded as a fashion icon. Prince Harry is of course one of the most eligible bachelors in the world today, whose every move is followed and talked about, whether good or bad.

The rumor between Watson and Prince Harry calls to mind another "Harry" that the media were excited for Watson to end up with, or at the very least, to date. He is One Direction's Harry Styles. The two posed for photographers at a fashion event late last year.

Before Janney, whom Watson dated for about a year, she was in a relationship with her Brown University boyfriend Will Adamowicz.

Prince Harry was in a relationship with Cressida Bonas for about two years before they split up in April 2014. They were, however, spotted being cozy last September.

As to the prospects of the two, it has been reported that they have never personally met in public.

As to how the story started and what the basis for it was, nothing is clear. What was clear though was how fast social media latched on to the report, making it viral. It seems that fans really want Hermione to end up with (a) Harry after all.
