Eve V latest news, update: unit has already gained $1,136,500 from over 2,300 backers; Microsoft CEO wants one
Eve V, the very first crowd-designed computer, is soon to come out and it is believed to bring on a tight competition with the Microsoft Surface Pro. It seems that Microsoft is playing good sport as its CEO is apparently buying an Eve V unit.
Eve V is being compared with the Microsoft Surface Pro as both are hybrid devices. The design and specs of Eve V have been decided upon by the community member of Eve and will also be installed with the Windows 10 OS, similar to the Surface Pro.
Well, it seems like a healthy competition is going on as Business Insider reported that Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella expressed his interest on the Eve V project the moment he learned about the device. In fact, Nadella is getting his own unit as soon as the shipping begins in February.
"[Microsoft] really wanted to see the device," confirmed Eve CEO Konstantinos Karatsevidis.
Eve reveals that there is a good amount of customers already lined up to purchase the Eve V gadgets, and it has overwhelmed the payment system of IndieGogo. The device is available on a preorder basis for $1,399, but it is back-ordered to April of next year.
Eve V has already gained more than $1,136,500 at this time of writing with more than 2,300 backers.
"After a successful launch of Eve T1 tablet, our team was still unsatisfied with most devices out there, wrote Eve. "We've built an open community for people who deserve better. Over 1000 people have collaborated online to craft the Unbeatable Eve V."
Eve V's specs include a limitless Thunderbolt 3â„¢ connectivity, attachable keyboard, an aluminum body shell, the latest seventh-generation Intel Core processor, among others.
There is also a lower-specs model available at $699. It comes with a Core m3 and i5. However, the device has already been sold out. More information can be seen on Eve V's IndieGogo page.
